Day One

There was a line of people waiting to check out the RVs on Friday morning.  Thank goodness we were at the head of the line!

Don, Sandy and Sherry check out the 3 Walkie Talkies that we will use to keep in touch with each other as we meander down the highway.  What better way to do this than opening up the window and saving yourself a trip down the steps outside the RV?!

The guys are all listening (hopefully) to the last minute instructions about the Class C RVs.

First stop: Walmart to load up on groceries.  We each had 2 baskets: one for our personal needs and one for the communal evening meals we will share.  We had figured $100 per couple for the dinners and the tab came out to $106.  Not bad!  You should have seen us in the check out line.

Time for a photo in the parking lot.  Don gives me a virtual hug...
and I return the favor!
Lunch time was spent in Wasilla, about an hour's drive from Anchorage.
I guess the guy flies his float plane to his dentist appointment.  You sure won't see this type of thing in Phoenix!

Our first glimpse of Denali/Mt. McKinley as we head down the highway.  There wasn't a place for the 3 rigs to stop along the highway for me to get out, so I will have to just have be satisfied with this one taken through the windshield.

Our first stop was at the small town of Willow at Montana Creek Campground.  There sure are a lot of fisherman walking around here for some reason.....
