Bananas over Basketball

Four days after we got home from Tucson, we were once again on the road.  Only this time, neither Don nor I were driving!   We were with our daughter Heidi, her husband Glen and their two daughters, heading to San Diego for Hailey's basketball tournament.  It seems we had just enough time to unpack the 5th wheel, get it into the RV place for servicing, catch up on washing and then pack up our suitcases.

Fortunately for us, we have a second cousin that lives just a couple of blocks from Reformation Lutheran church, where the tournament was being held.  Jen and Vic invited the 6 of us for supper on Saturday night and there wasn't a moment's hesitation in accepting.
We were treated to BBQ sandwiches, Caesar salad and white chocolate cheesecake that Vic had made.  Besides dinner, this was also the time in between games for Kyla to do her homework.  She missed school on Friday, so she was catching up in different places:  sitting on the gym bleachers, in the mini-van, at Vic and Jen's, etc.

The games started on Friday afternoon for the Grace girl's team, and continued on through Sunday afternoon.  We had many hours of sitting on bleachers.  Seriously, Don and I are going to look into buying stadium seats with comfy cushions!  Either the wood bleachers are getting harder or the fat that used to be on my behind migrated up to my middle.  What's with that?  Gravity has made all the rest of me has shift downward!

On Sunday morning, we attended the service at Reformation.  Hailey sang in the choir which consisted of all the boys and girls that participated in the tournament.
Looks like Glen was checking his phone one more time before we head into church.
Kyla reunited with a friend that had gone to the same summer camp with her last year in California,
and Hailey was all smiles with her friends from Reformation.  On the courts, when Grace played against Reformation, they were fierce competitors.  In the end, the Reformation girls won against Grace for the championship.
I had to sort through hundreds of pictures to select a few showing Hailey playing her heart out on the court.

Here is their team, with the second place trophy.  It hardly seems possible that we attended this same tournament 30 years ago this year.  That year, Emmaus (our church at that time) won the championship games for both the girl's and boy's teams.  Talk about Déjà vu!
