Before we left Willow, we took a walk to the nearby Montana Creek and found numerous Alaskans what they do best: fishing for salmon. The word was out that the salmon had finally reached this part of of the tributary system.
Don and Jerry work together before we left the campground to try and figure out how the GPS system worked out in the RV. It is totally different from the one the Magellan unit that we have or the Tom Tom that Jerry and Sandy use when they are traveling.
We're almost ready to go and Sandy is settled into her seat on the couch. And yes, we do use the seat belts while we are on the highway! If we didn't, there would be times we'd end up sitting on the floor.
We once again were lucky enough to catch views of Mt. McKinley/Denali. It almost looks surreal from here.
What would a road trip be without construction? While we were waiting for the pilot car, the motorcycle group from behind moved up directly in front of us. The one guy seemed to be giving me the evil eye even though I thought he couldn't see me from inside the camper.
Sandy found another comfy spot in the RV, on the bed looking out the back window!
This is a view out the rear window. Gorgeous landscapes, and blue skies (which wouldn't last long).
For some reason, the same two white campers kept following us, turning the same way every time and pulling off at the same stops...
This is the "Alaskan checkout counter". One wooden spool, a portable table, computer, card terminal and lots of wires! The lady at the "counter" told us they had just re-opened the gas station after it literally blew up a year and a half ago. Glad we weren't here when that happened.
Okay, we may be old, but we haven't lost our sense of humor. Don't you just love the hat Jerry tried on at the Mercantile store?
Everyone decided to talk a walk in the Caribou campground that we are at in Denali. If we had known about the rains that would hit two days later, I think we would have made it longer.
Where's Waldo? Or should I say where are Gary, Jerry, Norm and Don? The clue lies behind the hats!
Just to prove that it I actually am here with the rest of the group, here is our official group picture!
