Don's cousin Dale, his wife Mary and sister June drove from Illinois to meet up with us at Skidaway Island State Park on Tuesday. Before we headed out to do some sightseeing on Weds., we gathered for a big breakfast at Jerry & Sandy's camp site.
We headed for Wormsloe Historic Site, which was a 1736 Colonial Estate near Savannah. The tabby house (now in ruins) was built by Noble Jones.
After Wormsloe, we headed east to tiny Tybee Island to see Georgia’s oldest and tallest lighthouse.
Our evening was topped off by dinner at Paula Deen’s restaurant in downtown Savannah. The gentleman below rang the dinner bell in the street before anyone entered the building! We all had to chime in and say, "Come and get it!".
When you were seated inside, you automatically were served a sweet corn cake and a biscuit. Don ate all of his and kept nibbling at mine. I should have told him to leave his hands off my corn cake!
Dinner is over, and all of us are stuffed. Good southern home cooking satisfied our empty stomachs. Most of the group chose peach cobbler for dessert, and all that was left was to pay the bill!
After supper, we attempted to get rid of some of the extra calories by walking around the nearby downtown area. Here is a picture of the beautiful City Hall building whose dome seemed to glow in the evening sky.
