Parked in Parker, Az

January, 2010: No need for parkas while parked near Parker, Arizona! We took our 5th wheel to Buckskin State Park, which is situated along the Colorado River. In the site next to us were Sandy and Jerry, Don's sister and brother-in-law and part time traveling companions.
Yep, that's us, holding up a tree. We're in our standard camping "uniforms", denim jeans and denim shirts. If it were warmer, Don would probably be wearing a white t-shirt and denim shorts. It makes for boring pictures, but practicality wins out over being fashionable.
Someone told us to "take a hike" and that is what we did, literally. This was the half way point for the trail, which led us up the hills and across the highway on a pedestrian only bridge. Don, Sandy and Jerry agreed to stand still and have their picture taken so we had proof that we did hike the two miles on Friday morning. The other trails led to abandoned mines in the area.
Here are Gary and Sherry (who traveled with us last summer) with their boat on Lake Havasu. The lake was calm, but the boat didn't co-operate. : ( Even so, we had a good time visiting with them during the long weekend. You sure can't go boating in a lot of other states during the month of January!
Ah, the famous London Bridge in Lake Havasu City, all decorated up for the holidays.
Friday night's amazing sunset. This was taken outside of Gary and Sherry's house in Lake Havasu City.
On Saturday, Gary and Sherry took us out to the Nellie E Saloon, which is a bar out in the middle of the desert. You have to navigate 5 miles over dusty dirt roads to get to this place and we were amazed at how many people were out here on a Saturday afternoon. The bar/restaurant is open only on weekends from Labor Day until Memorial Day, and is completely self sufficient. They have their own well and generate their own electricity with solar panels. The tall thin structure in the back is a cooling station. About 200-300 people were out there, enjoying the music being played by the band.
